■This venerable institution just turned 12 years old in December, 2005. It's a light and poppy dance bar/club. While the music's not avant-garde and cutting edge, the DJs always spin the dependable crowd-pleasers. This and the all-you-can-drink specials make for a lively, fun party. Women are almost always welcome.

■One of the newest additions to NiChome, Papi Chulos is a super-friendly, warm meeting place. The owner, Masa, is out-going and fluent in English. It's a great mellow place to meet friends for cocktails.

■A no-excuses, no-holds-barred dance club. What it lacks in size, it makes up for in sweat and testosterone. From the porn on the TVs to the buff, shirtless bartenders, Dragon oozes sex. Be careful, there are frequently nights where women are not allowed.
